LOAN WATCH: Kioso starts hammering Pompey with cobblers
Luton’s defender Peter Kioso started when Northampton rose from the League One relegation zone on Saturday with a great 4-1 win over promotion slayer Portsmouth.
The Shoemakers scored all four goals in the first 45 minutes as Ryan Watson scored twice in quick succession before Fraser Horsfall scored the 3-0.
Will Hoskins added fourth place ahead of the break while Kioso rescued Craig MacGillivray after the break.
Substitute Ellison Harrison defeated former Hatters loanee Jonathan Mitchell from the penalty spot to 4-1, but the Cobblers were not injured again and moved up to 19th place on the table.
Gabriel Osho was there from the start when Rochdale fell to the ground after a 2-0 loss in resurgent Sunderland.
The Black Cats took the lead on seven minutes when Dion Sanderson headed home from a free kick.
It was 2-0 shortly after half an hour when Charlie Wyke nodded behind Gavin Bazunu.
Osho was replaced by Alex Newby in the 68th minute, but Dale failed to hit back, leaving them eight games without a win.
Elliot Lee missed Oxford United 0-0 against Charlton Athletic with a knee injury but is expected to be back in time for next weekend’s game in Hull City.
Josh Neufville was on the Yeovil team, which ended their streak of three straight National League wins with a 3-0 defeat at Chesterfield.
The first goal came after the break when Akwasi hit Asante, while Tom Whelan (68) and Jak McCourt (78) completed the defeat, Neufville was substituted after an hour.
Goalkeeper Harry Isted played for Wealdstone, who lost the lead in the first half when they lost 2-1 to Halifax Town.
The guests came closest first, ex-Luton defender Jack Senior just shot out of bounds. Isted parried Tahvon Campbell with a brilliant save.
Town’s stopper knocked down another attempt from Senior before the Stones went ahead and Dennon Lewis shot home.
After the break, Jake Hyde made it 1-1 before the guests scored the winning goal seven minutes from time when Jack Earing thundered a shot into the top corner.
