Debthunch Review: Not a Lender – is it a Scam or Legitimate?
Ad Disclosure: We receive referral fees from advertisers.
Who is DebtHunch? You are not a lender. You appear to be a lead generator selling to companies like Gold West Financial. They mainly sell to debt settlement companies.
You have likely received a personalized debt consolidation analysis mailing that offers a savings of $ 667 per month at 0% interest rate and promises to save you $ 71,550.
Seems a little good to be true?
And let’s go looking for reviews.
Is Debthunch Legitimate or a Scam?
Crixeo.com gave Debthunch a 2-star rating (data collected and updated on October 6, 2021). We hope the following information helps you make an informed decision about whether to do business with Debthunch.
- Debthunch is not a lender.
- It appears Debthunch is running a typical bait and switching scheme – but not for itself – for its main buyers. They lure you in by sending you direct mail with a ridiculous 0% interest rate to help consolidate your high-interest credit card debt.
- Debthunch isn’t telling you that you need to have great credit to qualify for a loan with this low interest rate (which you were supposedly pre-approved for).
- While the Debthunch mailer is offering incredibly low prices, the licensing information on their website indicates that they are only licensed in California with a Finance Lenders License.
- Your disclosure clearly states INFORMATION FROM YOUR CREDIT REPORT HAS BEEN USED FOR THIS OFFER. WE WILL WITHDRAW THIS OFFER IF YOU NO LONGER MEET THESE CRITERIA.
- We are curious to see how many of the consumers who have been sent this offer actually qualify for 0% interest.
Debthunch reviews and ratings
Debthunch has an A + BBB rating, but something doesn’t feel right. Debthunch appears to be collecting its reviews very early in the process before bad news is delivered from the main buyer to the consumer. If you read some of the negative reviews on Trustpilot, you’ll get a different picture.
Trustpilot reviews for Debthunch
Below are some of the latest Debthunch Bad Reviews on Trustpilot:
This is a company that is fishing for customers drowning in debt. Coming to you as a customer with decent credit and unsecured debt but no credit card debt I was lied to and then ignored. They didn’t even have the decency to say no to me. They just stopped answering my calls because I didn’t meet their criteria. This company is a scam and buyers should beware.

Look man this will be my last answer to you, I won’t waste my time any more. If you are supported by all of these terrific reviews and things that you claim to have achieved, then why are you concerned about the one star review from that one “untrue” person you keep calling me? How, enough, I already said, my opinion will not change, I can check you in other places too, now live on with your life and keep shining!
SINCE THEY TAKEN THE TIME TO literally berate me to this answer, I WILL REALLY KEEP IT AS IT IS, I HAVE ANNOUNCED ON OUR TELEPHONE THAT I WOULD LIKE TO CHANGE THE REVIEW, BUT NOT THE RATE TO TRY AND BEST ME WITH A $ 100 GIFT CARD TO “COMPENSATE” ME FOR MY TIME AND THINK ABOUT THE RATING CHANGE !! And you know DAMN well, the rating is because it’s been over a month and I haven’t received a callback from Gold West Financial which is / was a company you work with until you contacted me about the review to have. You dare not say there was no call within 24 hours why not try for 5 weeks !!! And even though you are not directly involved or “helping” with debt consolidation, it is still a business that you employ, and so the responsibility is yours! What you admitted yourself! And you are very wrong; DebtHunch did NOT help me consolidate anything! I was able to get a loan through a completely different company! All you’ve actually done is call me two days in a row to persuade me and change the rating and review! And you also lie and say that I agreed that you are not a fraudulent company !! I said I wasn’t sure and at that point I didn’t want to know if it was or not because it made a really bad impression on me! Leave me alone now! Stop berating me just for refusing your damn $ 100 gift card to change! Now eat it! I will not change it !!!! How childish do you have to be to do this ?! Unbelievable.

NOT WHAT IT SEEMS
From the flyer I received in the mail, it was unclear that Debthunch was not a lender; but is a debt settlement company. It was also unclear that Debthunch referred me to another company. At some point, with a few questions, I was about to find out; but I have a feeling that it was the company that tried to use a loan offer as a catch for debt settlement. I didn’t want to ruin my credit … I just wanted a decent loan.

I am just starting my journey. Not sure.
Why are we focusing on Debthunch’s negative reviews?
We strongly encourage you to do your own research and due diligences on any company, especially when it comes to your personal finances. The positive reviews seemed a bit too general. We are not implying that Debtbunch’s reviews are fake. We have no information to suggest this. However, we urge you to pay attention to what consumers say in their very detailed complaints and reviews and to match them with the positives to judge the quality of authenticity for yourself.
We wish you the best of luck and invite you to stop by Crixeo Best Debt Consolidation Reviews from 2021.
Debt Review – Advise Caution
Debthunch is representative of what plagues the debt consolidation industry. Direct mail with low rates, sell leads for credit, and bait and switching tactics to turn the customer into a debt settlement customer.
